The tigers story

It’s our planet too, prowling through forests is what we do…

We’re majestic and strong, the biggest of cats! We’re pure muscle and fur and not at all fat;
The forests and grasslands of Asia are home, we mark out our territory and live all alone.

 Our beautiful stripes allow us to hide, like fingerprints they are one of a kind.
We cool off in pools, we do like a swim, our roar’s mighty loud, a bit of a din.

 Despite our size we are super swift, to run like the wind is our greatest gift.
We only eat meat and go hunting at night, deer, antelope, pigs, we’ll give them a fright.

 We lie in wait, getting ready to pounce, when they get closer, it’s ready, set, bounce;
We will kill our prey with a single bite, our strength and prowess means there is rarely a fight.

 We’re such an iconic and beautiful beast, drawing tourists and money, to the Far East.
But the number of tigers is falling so fast, the chances to save us have nearly passed.

 For years we were seen as a hunter’s best prize, men craving trophies, ensured our demise.
For medicine too we’ve been hounded and chased, was it really worthwhile or just a big waste?

 As forests are cleared so our homes disappear, there’s so few of us now, so please shed a tear.
More tigers are living in zoos than are wild; stop us becoming a myth, instead make us smile.

 There’s only a few of us left on the planet, help save our home so we don’t have to panic.
We deserve a home outside of the zoo, after all, it’s our planet too!
